The Swachh Gaon – Swasth Gramin Abhiyan is a community-driven initiative launched by Vardaan with the objective of improving health, hygiene, and sanitation practices in rural areas. The campaign focuses on creating awareness, encouraging behavioral change, and empowering communities to take responsibility for their own well-being. By addressing the root causes of poor sanitation and lack of health awareness, the initiative aims to build a sustainable model for healthier rural living.
As a pilot project, the campaign has been initiated in 50 villages of Tharali Block, covering both rural villages and Nagar Panchayat areas. Under this initiative, regular Health Chaupals are being organized at the village level, where community members actively participate and engage in discussions related to hygiene, nutrition, safe drinking water, and prevention of common diseases.
The Health Chaupals serve as an interactive platform where people are not only informed but also encouraged to adopt healthier practices in their daily lives. Special focus is given to women, children, and elderly members of the community, ensuring that the benefits of the campaign reach every section of society. Local challenges are identified during these sessions, and practical, easy-to-implement solutions are shared with the participants.
The campaign includes a range of activities such as sanitation awareness drives, school-based programs, community meetings, and distribution of IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) materials like posters and pamphlets. Through continuous engagement and follow-ups, the initiative seeks to ensure long-term impact rather than one-time awareness.
By promoting the idea that “cleanliness leads to health, and health leads to prosperity,” the Swachh Gaon – Swasth Gramin Abhiyan aims to create a ripple effect of positive change across rural communities. This pilot project is envisioned as a scalable model that can be expanded to other regions in the future, contributing towards the larger goal of building a healthier and more empowered society.
